Christmas Day 2010

Finally, my last Christmas post - but then what will I talk about?  Christmas was an absolute blast this year!  We spent the day at my parents house and spent what seemed like hours opening gifts and eating and lounging around.  Colin loved opening his gifts and kept asking to open everyone else's gifts - it was pure joy to watch him and he got so excited about every gift he opened.

Colin woke up around 8am and we made the trip to over to Grammie and Pappy's house (a whole 3 blocks away).  When we arrived we learned that my brothesr was working late (he is police officer working the night shift) and wouldn't get there until at least 10am.  Fortunately for us, Colin still didn't really understand Christmas yet so we just snuck him past the front room and hung out in the living room for a couple hours.
This gave me time to actually get pictures of the tree and gifts before we opened them - yay!
My parents got Colin this super cute table and chairs!

Santa brought Colin a Buzz Lightyear Power Wheels.

Best Christmas dinner ever ... deer steak, mashed potatoes, corn, and salad...yum!!!

Christmas Eve 2010

Every year we switch holidays with our families and this year we spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my parents, my sister and her husband, and my brother.  We have also tried to start a tradition of hosting Christmas Eve at our house when we are in Houston, which has been the case for the last 3 years.  There is something so magical about Christmas Eve and I absolutely love having our families over to celebrate.  We make a big, fancy dinner and use our wedding china - no expense or time spared for this dinner party!

We went to the early church service on Christmas Eve (thanks bubba!) and we attempted to get a family picture in front of the gorgeous tree - no such luck for us this year.
After church, it was home for a quick dinner for Colin and bathtime and bedtime.  Even Christmas Eve cannot mess up our bedtime routine too much, ha!  We wanted to make sure he wouldn't sleep too late on Christmas morning and that he would wake up a happy boy.

After Colin went to bed we all sat down for dinner. Hopefully next year my little man will be able to stay up for dinner - he had a grilled cheese this year and that was probably just as good as our prime rib (at least to him!).

yum....some of our spread!

Christmas #2

Last Sunday we got to celebrate Christmas with the Horton family - we always have a good time when everyone gets together.  This year we hosted at our house (aka the Horton Fleenor compound - that doesn't sound right, huh?) and ate too much food, again and opened presents.  Colin absolutely loves any time he gets to spend with his cousins and this was no different - they played and played and really enjoyed eachother.  The adults had a pretty good time too, ha!

Christmas #1

The week before Christmas was our Buckert Family Christmas at my parents house...lucky for us we didn't have to travel at all this holiday season!  It was great to see all of my aunts, uncles, cousins and Grandpa (as usual) and it is so sweet to watch my cousins kids and Colin play together.  We have a pretty special family and I love that it keeps expanding!  We hung out at my parents house and ate (way too much), talked, played, opened gifts, and just hung out together.

Late Sleeper Award

Colin gets the prize for the latest sleeper!  Last Saturday (not Christmas day) he slept until 10:30am (he went to bed at 7pm)....it was an early present for Momma and Daddy.  When he finally woke up he was pretty happy to see donut holes and milk waiting for him. Cannot believe this sweet little boy will be 2 years old in a month...where is the time going?

Happy Holidays!
