So Close....

I am complete denial that my baby toddler is turning 2 tomorrow! Don’t get me wrong – I am beyond excited to be celebrating his birthday and have been looking forward to it for months – even more, I cannot wait for his party on Saturday! I am in denial that he is getting further away from the baby stage and is fully embracing toddler-hood. I know, I probably just made up a word, but oh well. Luke and I are taking the day off from work tomorrow and we have a super fun day planned for our little man. Tomorrow is going to be all about him (I guess just like most every other day in our house, ha!) and he will have our undivided attention and I know he will just love it. We actually have a schedule – I know, I am a complete dork – but we’ll see if we make it to everything on time. I will be dragging the camera along to document so I can share it with everyone here.

drinking his first mug of hot chocolate this week.  yes, he is sitting on the counter.
In other news our downstairs bathroom remodel is almost done! I have a deal with my general contractor, aka Luke, to have it finished before the birthday party on Saturday so our lovely guests don’t have to trek upstairs to take care of business. But seriously, it is sooo pretty! Here is a before picture – the after pictures are coming soon and you will love it. Well, you might not love it but we do and that is what matters, right? Colin walks in there and tells Luke over and over “I like it, I like it, I like it”. Adorable, right? Yeah, he already knows how to butter us up.

I know there are a million other things going on right now that I want to write down so I don’t forget them but honestly I am having a difficult time thinking about anything other than my boy’s birthday tomorrow and his party on Saturday. I mean, how do people expect me to work this week? Two years ago today I was checking into St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital so that my sweet boy could be evicted, aka induced since he was not coming on his own! To think about the excitement and nervousness we were feeling on this day two years ago gives me butterflies in my belly and makes me happy/teary at the same time. Little did we know just how much this sweet boy was going to change our lives – he is a million times better than we were hoping/imagining and I am so thankful God chose me to be his momma.

2 Weeks To Go

As of today we have exactly 2 weeks until Colin's 2nd birthday - still hard to believe my tiny baby is about to be 2!!!  He is definitely looking like a big boy in these photos...I took them on Monday when we got home from work/school.
he loves his daddy's texas tech hat and wears it all the time!

how does he look like such a big kid in this photo?!?!
Colin and Henry are also the best of buddies right now - it is so fun to watch them play together.  Colin cannot wait to see Henry in the morning when he wakes up and in the afternoon as soon as we walk in the door.  My animal baby and my munchkin loving on eachother makes me so happy - I know I am a cheeseball!

2 of Colin's favorites: Buzz Lightyear & Henry!

Time for puppy dog kisses and Henry is not shy!  :)

love this one so much.

enough w/the kisses already henry!
In other news I started my exercise video again this week - it has been almost a year since I did this and it was painful.  I am hoping to stick with it this time.  I am starting to get sick and I am hoping it goes away quickly so I can get back to the crazy Jillian video.
Luke decided he didn't like the wall texture in our guest bathroom so he sanded the whole thing - he is crazy!  He re-textured it and now doesn't like it again, so it looks like there is another afternoon of sanding in his future.  I had to take a picture of him because he looked so crazy, ha!  :)

Medicine Woman

2010 was the second year we participated in the Flexible Spending Account @ work.  It's great - you decide what set amount you think you will spend on doctors visits, prescriptions, over the counter meds - anything health related - and they take it out of your paycheck over the course of the year and put it on a debit card you can use anywhere on health-related items.  Well, we put a little too much in that account this year - and were lucky to be healthy overall and not need to use it - so I went on a mini shopping spree at Walgreen's & Target on New Year's Eve.  This kind of plan is use it or lose it - so I chose to use it.  The cashier at Walgreen's was not impressed and made it clear.  Oh well, we'll have a great first aid cabinet for the next year or so!
everything set up on my dresser....yikes!

2011, already?!?!

I can’t believe it is already January again, and another new year has begun. It’s weird considering a huge majority of my day at work is scheduling meetings, people, events, everything on calendars, yet I am still surprised it’s already time to begin a new calendar year. January is always so exciting – the start of a new year and so many possibilities of what will happen in the coming year. Of course, every January I always resolve to start exercising and get in shape – notice I didn’t say get back in shape – that ship sailed about 9 years ago, ha! I am hoping this is the year I can stick with it – but that will be another post on another day.
January is a huge month for my family – we get to celebrate my sister’s birthday (8th), my dad’s birthday (10th), my brother’s birthday (18th) and my sweet little man’s birthday (26th)…my cousin also has a birthday (16th) in the middle of everyone else’s! All of these special birthdays definitely give me something to look forward to after the holidays and I cannot wait to celebrate with everyone! Mostly I can’t believe the my baby is turning 2 in a few measley weeks. Again, that is another post for later.

For New Year’s Eve we hung out at home and at the Fleenor’s house (pretty much home, they live right next door!) and got to spend the evening with the Horton/White/Fleenor family and it was perfect. We were so surprised that we stayed up until midnight – actually until about 1am which is a record for me and Luke nowadays. I don’t do it very often on this blog, but let’s take a little road trip/flashback to New Year’s Eve 2009. We were in South Padre staying at the beach and visiting my grandparents with my family and my little 11-month old Colin…what a difference a year makes, huh?

It was actually on this trip last year that he took his first steps! Now I cannot get him to slow down – not that I want to – but maybe I do a little.

Here he is one year later on New Year's Eve 2010...isn't he such a handsome little man?  Of course I am not biased or anything!

I don’t really have any specific resolutions for 2011; I have a lot of goals I hope to achieve but mainly I want to just keep enjoying my sweet husband and the best little boy I could ask for. I am so thankful for my little family and for my extended family as well. I hope that we all continue to enjoy good health and especially continue to enjoy our time together.
