Cowboy Ranch

The weekend before Memorial Day we went to a family reunion at the Mayan Ranch in Bandera, TX or as we like to call it "Cowboy Ranch".  For anyone that doesn't know Colin is still obsessed with Woody (and Buzz) and he thought it was so cool we were going to a cowboy ranch, just like Woody.  Let me tell you, I am pretty sure he came home even more obsessed with all things cowboy.  Of course I forgot to take my camera (I know, right?) but they were handing out disposable cameras (haven't used one in forever) and I finally got the pictures developed.  We had so much fun relaxing and hanging out with everyone.  It's been over a month and Colin still asks if we are going to the cowboy ranch when we get in the car, ha!

As soon as we got there while we were still checking in Uncle Michael took Colin outside to ride the longhorn.  Colin was definitely impressed.  Don't know if the longhorn was having so much fun but he tolerated my little boy at least.
pinata time!
our hayride to the cowboy breakfast.  grammie, luke, colin, me, uncle michael, aunt kim (almost 34 wks pregnant!)

the deer were following the hay ride - guess they aren't too shy or scared!
pony time!

we got to enjoy a full afternoon in the medina river too.  isn't it pretty???
colin & daddy

throwing rocks. i swear his arms do not get tired.  ever.
riding the wooden rocking horse with his new cowboy gun.  oh my.
pappy on the horse, ready to ride.

daddy went too.

uncle michael's first time to ride a horse!

we were watching.  :)

then colin got a special treat!  one of the guys working offered to let him ride a horse all by himself & only in the front area.  still, it was a big deal!  this was the oldest horse at the ranch - he said in human years she would be in her 90's.  poor thing - she was so great with colin and let him pet her and love on her too.
my little cowboy.  he kept saying 'yee-haw' over and over.

saturday = fun day

we had a fun little family day on saturday.  when i got hungry enough around 9am i woke the rugrat up so we could run to panera for a quick breakfast - seriously the four cheese egg souflee is amazing.  after breakfast we decided to drive down to kemah for the farmer's market.  we didn't whip out the camera at the market but we did buy some some delicious fruits and veggies.  since we were already there we decided to make a stop on the kemah boardwalk for the carousel.  we walked around a bit but colin was itching to 'ride the horses' so that is what we did.
first it was my turn to ride w/colin.

then daddy got a turn too.

love.

aw - ignore my massive bloated face.  love my little family.
after lunch at home and a short (too short) nap for colin we headed to the neighborhood pool.  colin asks almost on a daily basis to go swimming.  we all had a good time and everyone went down the waterslides too.  he was not too happy to leave but with a bribe of hot dogs for dinner we were walking back home in no time.
getting his floaties on  for the first time - big boy.

luke got a picture of colin underwater.  he is obsessed w/putting his face under water.

my little fish.

a quick update

i haven't blogged in forever and there is so much i need to write down, for my own memory's sake. i will get to all of the fun we had in may soon.  we have been really taking it easy around the house the last few weekends.  one of our biggest accomplishments is my little man is pottytrained!!! hallelujah!  now i am not saying he never has an accident but it has been rare especially the last couple of weeks.  the picture below is what we caught him doing last saturday morning - i had to remind him that tee tee goes in the potty, not on the grass or in the washing basin we use for poor henry.  he was still so proud of himself.  and secretly i was also really happy that he pulled his pants down himself and took care of business instead having an accident.
colin thought he should pee outside like henry.  oy.
next, this is what a happening saturday night looks like in our house.  at least this is what we did last saturday - we had fun though.  we rented cars, yes the original (i had never seen it) and colin loved it. pizza, popcorn, chocolate chip cookies and an animated movie make my little man and event he big man pretty happy.

finally, i am really excited to share some big news.  i think colin is going to be the best big brother anyone could ask for!  baby #2 is due december 9th and we are all pretty excited about it.  more details to come on this topic, ha!  colin thought this shirt was so cool!

football (really it's softball)

every spring my husband, dad, and brother play on our church's softball team.  we tried to make it out for as many games as possible - i think we ended up only going to 2 or 3 games but that is still an improvement for last year.  every week when luke was getting ready colin kept talking about how daddy was going to play football.  we kept reminding him it was softball which is kind of like baseball but i think we just confused him.  colin had a blast at the ball park and we had fun cheering on daddy, pappy, and uncle doug and our church friends.  uncle scot was even on the field for some of the games this time - i wondered what people thought when every 3rd player we were cheering for a family member, ha!  at the last game i made sure to get a photo of some of the men in my life.  so cute!

Easter 2011

So I know this is a couple months late, better late than never right?  We were total bums on Easter this year, as in we didn't even make it to church even though we bought Colin the cutest outfit specifically for Easter.  Oh well, there is always next year I suppose.  I only snapped a few pics on Easter and they were of Colin's surprise from the Easter bunny.  He was super excited and had the best time with all of his goodies.

We were also lucky enough to spend the day with both of our families.  Next year we will definitely (hopefully) be back to church for Easter.  As far back as I can remember I have never not gone to church on Easter, same for Luke.  We did however really enjoy the day.
