Elijah Cole Valdez is finally here!

Ok, technicallly as of today he has been here for 1 week!  My sister was induced on Wed, 7/6 at 10am and baby Eli was born on Thurs, 7/7 at 4:26pm.  My sister was a total rock star, seriously.  Even the doctor (who I happen to work with) said something to me this week about it.  It felt like it took forever for him to get here and that is just from someone standing on the sidelines. I am sure for Kim and Michael it felt like an eternity but as soon as he was born it was like he had been here forever.
I was lucky enough to be in the room when Elijah Cole was born and it is something I will always remember – his precious cry when he was born, my mom crying happy tears, Kim and Michael crying happy tears when they finally got to meet their son.  There is something amazing about being a witness to your nephew being born – everyone was so excited and anxious to meet him. I mean this little boy is loved, that is something he will never ever doubt.  It was so special for me to be in the room with my sister - my baby sister - to support her and love her as she became a momma.  After having Colin and knowing the ‘irrational joy’ he brings and the never-ending, always-growing love I have for him, it was the best thing in the world to see my sister experience this for herself.  Elijah is so lucky to have the parents he does and we are all super lucky to have him too.  He is the sweetest, most precious little baby.  I could really love on him all day long.  I cannot wait for him and Colin to grow up together - they will be crazy boys for sure.  Hopefully Colin doesn't get him into too much trouble, ha!  Enough with the chatter, here are some pictures – my sister put all of them up on Facebook so check it out if you want to see more.

4th of July Weekend Recap

We were totally spoiled this weekend and got to soak in a lot of fun family time.  On Friday night we went to my in-laws house for dinner with the family and to celebrate G.G.'s birthday!  G.G. is Luke's grandma and we are so happy she is in town for the next couple of weeks.  As much as I love seeing Colin with his grandparents it makes me even happier to see him with his great grandparents.  One day he will know how lucky he was to spend time with them and love on them.

On Saturday we spent some time at the pool with Colin's friends - aka 'the girls' - aka his cousins.  Then we got to go to our favorite pizza place in town for lunch and games.  I made it a point to put my camera in my purse but didn't actually take it out - I am blaming the pregnancy.  Seems there is nothing/no one else to blame right?  That evening my little family of 3 went to my sister's house for dinner - see, lots of fun family time!  My sister is overdue at this point and we are all so anxious and eager to meet baby Elijah.  Hopefully he will make his momma happy and make an appearance very soon.  We finally got to see his nursery and it is the cutest!  I also snapped a pic of my sister - at this point she was 39 weeks, 5 days pregnant and gorgeous!

On a sidenote, remember earlier when I said we made a mobile for baby eli?  i snapped a pic of it too - not the best photo but it is seriously the sweetest mobile.  if the heart had turned around you would see an "E" on the other side so he will always know it was made especially for him.  it still needs to be hung from above his crib - maybe then i can get a better photo.  my sister and her husband come up with the cutest ideas!

and here is another one of my baby sister.   i couldn't resist adding this one - plus it shows some of eli's precious room!  those are sonogram pictures on the wall behind her - so cute!

on sunday we spent a lazy day at home.  maybe i should rephrase - i was really lazy, colin was his normal full of energy self and so was luke. i think sunday was my day to rest and recoup from saturday's fun, ha.  we hung around the house all day and finally decided to venture out to go see a movie.  colin got to go see his ''friends" at honey's house while me and luke went to see xmen.  fun for all and it was so nice to go see a movie, especially an adult movie!

yesterday, on the actual holiday we had another day of visiting and relaxing with family.  we went to the donut shop for breakfast, to h-e-b for last minute supplies, and to party city for really last minute july 4th fun stuff!  then we headed over to honey and daddy jay's house for the afternoon.  luke made the most amazing ribs - and he's bbq'ed a lot folks but these were hands down the best and worth the long wait.  i didn't get any photos AGAIN except for a couple at home.   hope everyone had a happy 4th of july!  can't believe next year we will be celebrating as a family of four, yikes!  :)

i know i am a huge dork but colin made that sweet star wreath at school last week. i was pretty proud so i hung it on the door. he was pretty happy i put it there too.  and i think it looks pretty great!

and the obligatory "cheese" while i am not really looking at the camera picture of colin.
