we are still here.

it has been awhile since i blogged.  we are still here.  all 4 of us.  davis is still in my belly - hopefully not for too much longer.  so, what have we been up to?  mainly just hanging out, getting the house ready, little projects done here and there.  i wanted to get a picture of colin in his 'gobble gobble' shirt and of course he wants to stand in the middle of our messy flower bed.  oh well, he is pretty cute!

we have been going out to breakfast on the weekends (momma hasn't felt like cooking, at all).  last weekend we headed to the park after breakfast to run off some energy.  he was so excited to order the funny face pancake.  besides one bite of chocolate chips, he did not eat any of this.  instead he ate my plain belgian waffle but he still talks about the funny face pancake.  silly boy.

and yes, i do know that his pants are too short.  that is our problem lately - they are too big in the waist, still 2T but too short in the legs.  what can you do?  poor boy will be seeing his white socks in a lot of pictures from here on out.  :)

we had a great thanksgiving too!  my parents hosted this year so we only had to drive 3 blocks to our party destination, ha!  every single thing on the menu was delicious and the company was even better.  i did not take one single picture on thanksgiving - almost makes me want to cry.  i know i still have the memory but i like having photos to look back on too.  oh well, it is my fault.  i was too interested in eating and visiting with family, which is sort of the the point of the day anyway right?

since we were home for thanksgiving we actually got to decorate our house, put up lights, and get our christmas trees situated this weekend.  we have never done this on thanksgiving weekend - we are usually traveling.  it was so nice!  i still need to get photos of the decor and of colin's special tree in his bedroom, and the lights outside - ok, so mostly i need to get photos of everything.  but i do have a couple to share.  look at my boys!  we had to stop for starbucks on the way to pick out a tree - it is cold in houston!  colin thought it was super special that he got his very own "coffee milk", aka steamed milk.  :)

ha, we were trying to get a picture of colin and the tree - guess the sun was a little bright, huh?

pretty lit up tree - i need to figure out how to take a picture of the tree w/out it being fuzzy.

that's about all for now.  i am 38 weeks, 4 days pregnant today....10 days left until my due date.  i am hoping little brother makes an appearance before december 9th.  i thought he was trying to come this weekend and then again yesterday, but he must have changed his mind.  :)  our bags are packed and we are ready -- just waiting for him now!

can my boy sing or what?

so yesterday i attended my very first preschool event with colin.  i have missed the last couple (and he remembers and will remind me thank you very much) so i was super excited to actually be there!  i arrived just in time to help with his thanksgiving craft.

after crafts it was time for the show.  i think colin might just be a natural born performer.  gee, i wonder where he gets that from?  he sang loud and proud for all to hear and it was so cute!  i can't believe he is old enough to participate in this kind of stuff now.  make sure to turn up the sound on the video - you can't miss colin or singing/yelling voice.  :)

after the performance it was time for dessert - cookies and juice.  :)  i was so proud of my big boy standing up there and singing.  i will definitely make more of an effort to be there in the future - i loved it and more importantly, i think he was pretty happy i was there to see him sing.

diaper shower for little brother.

i have some of the best co-workers a girl could ask for.  when i was pregnant with colin they threw me a fabulous shower and this time they had a diaper shower for little brother.  it was the cutest baby shower ever!

i am so thankful to work with some amazing people.  the  picture above gives a little sneak peek of little brother's room and his name, ha!  i will try to get some updated pictures....it doesn't look like the above picture anymore!  as of today....only 17 days (or less?) until we get to hold this sweet boy.

giving thanks, days 7 & 8

so i know these posts are kind of lame without any pictures or anything...will try to be better about that.  no pictures again today but the past 2 days i have been thankful for food! ha ha, but really, i mean it.  last night my brother brought over homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner and hung out with me and colin.  it was so nice of him and the soup was super yummy too!!!

today my mom made me lunch.  yep, you heard me right.  :)  it was so nice!  i can't remember the last time someone made ME lunch!  so the last 2 days i have been thankful for food and even more grateful for the caring people that provided the food.  i am a lucky girl to be surrounded by people who love me and take such good care of me and my little family.  :)

on another note, i cannot believe thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away!!!  i am beyond excited.  i love thanksgiving and everything about it - the family get togethers, the food, the meaning of the holiday, etc.  november is flying by but that is a-ok with me!

thankful, day 6

today i am thankful for a clean house!  this is all thanks to my amazing mother in law who gifted us a free house cleaning.  there is almost nothing better than a clean house and it is a million times better that i am not the one who had to do the cleaning.  i mean, my sink is shining like a piece of jewelry!!!  this is such a special treat and i appreciate it more than she knows.   :)

thankfulness, day 5

today i am thankful for no more goodbyes.  luke has been travelling for work a lot lately (to me it is a lot!) and today he left for his last work related trip.  it's silly i know, but it's harder to say goodbye each time he leaves.  here's to no more goodbyes for a (hopefully LONG) while!

thankfulness, day 4

today i am thankful for finally being motivated to get some stuff done around the house.  we have been working all weekend and the boys' rooms look so great!!!  i am so proud of us and am grateful for that my 'nesting instinct' finally kicked in full drive.  i need to snap some photos so i can share!  of course now i am so tired that i am in bed at 7:00pm...well worth it.  i am thankful to my hubby for putting up with me all weekend and my in-laws for keeping colin last night/this morning.  it's crazy how much you can get done with no distractions, ha!

Thankfulness, Day 3

today and every single day i am thankful for colin thomas horton.  he has changed my life in so many ways and helped me to realize my true purpose in this life.  i love him with an intensity i cannot even begin to describe and my love for him grows stronger and stronger every day...even when he is testing me and pushing me to the absolute edge!

i am eternally grateful for my silly, loving, crazy, smart, thoughtful, playful, artistic, musical little boy.  i am thankful for every minute i get with him - even the minutes that are filled with fit throwing and struggles (on both our parts, ha!).  i am thankful for his hugs, his kisses, his "i love you's" and for all of the times he still wants me to hold him and snuggle.  every night we sing songs before we go to bed (the exact same 5 songs in the exact order!).  the first song is always "you are my sunshine" and i can easily say that this little love has stolen my heart and he makes every day of life better.  he is my best little buddy.

Thankful, Day 2 & 35 Week Update

Today I am 35 weeks 2 days pregnant with 33 days left until my due date.  Wowza!  I am feeling good for the most part - I am getting tired earlier in the evening but I think that is partially due to the weather/time change.  On Thursday when I got home from work my left ankle was ginormous.  My right one still looked normal.  The joys of pregnanccy, huh?  :)  I really can't complain (I mean I could but I won't/shouldn't).  I have noticed that I have been going to the bathroom like a mad woman; pretty much every time I stand up I have to go.  Oh well.  I am looking forward to a productive weekend and hopefully will post some pictures of little brother's room in the next couple of days!  Here is my 35 week picture in my usual spot in the work bathroom.  Gross I know.
i swear my face doesn't look quite so big in person...maybe.  :)

Since today's post is about this pregnancy/little brother I will go ahead and make this my post for thankfulness too.  I am beyond thankful for a healthy baby boy growing in my tummy.  I am even thankful for all of the icky pregnancy symptoms, aches, and pains over the last 8+ months.  This is one of the most special times of my life and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.  I know there are so many amazing women out there waiting for their own precious miracle so I am doing my best not to take any of this for granted.

21 Days of Thankfulness

I am going to try really hard to post every day for the next 21 days.  I have a lot to be thankful for in this life of mine.  Now these are not in any specific order but today I am thankful for my husband.

he is an amazing father and the best role model for our little boy.

he has the best family and i am thankful for his devotion to them.

i am thankful that even after almost 14 years together, he still makes me laugh.

and that he doesn't take himself too seriously.

i am thankful that he has taught me a lot over years.  for example, how to relax!

and the adventures we have been on together.

I am so grateful for his dedication to me and our family.  He works so hard and wants nothing but the best for us.  We are so lucky to have him and although I am thankful for him all year long, I am especially thankful for him now.   He loves me at my best and my worst and he takes the best care of me and Colin and soon to be little brother.  He goes out of his way for us – whether it is to come running the minute I see a bug, to taking out the trash, to making dinner, to home improvement projects, and the list goes on and on.  I am a lucky girl to have found a boy like him.  J

no doubt about it.

one last post on halloween today.  let me just say that i wish i knew how to make picture collages on blogger.  since i don't, i will just post these individually.  my baby's  little boy's halloween history.  :)

there is no doubt about it...my baby is growing up.  he is growing up entirely too fast if  you ask me.  from a monkey to a dragon to a cowboy...wonder what next year will bring?  :)

happy halloween!

our first halloween trick-or-treating outing was a success! this was colin's third halloween but it was his first time to go trick or treating door to door and he loved it.  we spent the evening with family and his cousins showed him the ropes.  after about 25 minutes he was done and then they passed out candy back at the house.  we got a lot of use out of our 'homemade' cowboy/woody costume this year!
colin, jillian, and nora ready to get some candy.  a cowboy and 2 genies!

first house!

trick or treat!

this is dark but i love him holding hands with his Lolly.  :)

attempt @ a family picture....colin was over it and we were tired!  signs of a good night, huh?

passing out candy....

thanks to leah and brian for having all of us over, feeding us dinner and taking us out to trick or treat!  we had a great halloween....can't wait until next year!  :)
