froberg farm

last sunday we made an impromptu trip to frobergs farm in alvin.  i have wanted to take colin out there since last year and i am so happy we actually went.  they grow all kinds of veggies but the main attraction is picking your own strawberries.  they also have a snack bar, a store where they sell their veggies and plants, and a playground.  they are not paying me to write this blog, ha!  but it was really the cutest place - we are definitely going to make another trip.  colin had a blast and has actually been eating strawberries every day this week.  now i just have to figure how out how to use the last 5 or 6 lbs before they go bad.

the littlest strawberry.

little brother was along for the fun too.  14 weeks old!

the boys and the berries - that's about 30 lbs of strawberries right there and they are amazing!

on the way back he suckered pappy into carrying him.  :)

a few of my favorite things...

yummy food from colin's kitchen that he makes special for momma.

sweet smiles from this precious boy.

pretty blue eyes and those chubby legs!

interruptions.

i have the same goal every saturday morning.  my goal is always to drink a hot cup of coffee with little to no interruption.  i like my coffee burn-your-mouth hot, the kind of hot that you have to sip it slowly and really enjoy it.  :) during the week i heat my coffee in the microwave at least 3 or 4 times before i can get it all down.  i always get distracted or interrupted by something on the news, something that needs to be washed in the sink, by laundry that needs to be done before we leave the house, by the internet (more specifically facebook or pinterest), by someone needing milk, breakfast, a special cartoon or someone wanting help going to the bathroom, looking for a particular pair of pants, etc.
I had very high hopes of actually accomplishing my goal yesterday.  The computer was put away, the TV was not on and most importantly Luke took Colin to Lowe's and it was just me and Davis at home, which meant the possible interruptions were cut down by two thirds!  I fed Davis and we played and I finally got him down for a nap.  As soon as I walked downstairs and sat on the couch with my steaming, perfectly hot cup of coffee I heard Colin knocking on the front door.  Thank goodness for my microwave.  Oh well....there is always next Saturday, right?  And I have to say - I have some of the cutest 'distractions' around...and I am perfectly grateful to be interrupted by them (most of the time).

sick house.

on wednesday night colin got  sick.  the kind of sick i have been dreading.  the kind of sick i have been more than happy to go without for the last 3 years.  he had his first stomach virus and hopefully his last one for a very long time.  the poor boy was so sick for about 12 straight hours, starting at bedtime.  he managed to get all of our sheets and most of our blankets dirty before i decided to move him (and me) downstairs for the night. neither of us slept more than 2 hours all night long and sweet davis did not get the memo that last night would have been a really great night for him to sleep all night, ha.  but colin is a trooper and is definitely on the mend now.  his teachers from school got sick too so i know it is contagious...we are just hoping and praying and begging that no one else around here gets sick, especially little brother.
watching cartoons this morning.

his special pallet.

sleepy boy.
so i guess colin reached a toddler-hood milestone...i have heard so many people say that their kids get the stomach bug several times a year.  i am going to be grateful that we have not had to deal with that.  i am ready to get my boy better so we can all enjoy the weekend.  and i hated seeing him so sick and crying and begging me for some water because he was 'so thirsty'.  it was just so sad and made my heart hurt for him.

boys night.

monday night luke was home with the boys for a couple hours alone.  momma had a meeting at church and the boys found a fun way to entertain themselves.  i used the flip software to make a 'magic movie' so it shortened the video from 4 minutes to 30 seconds....it still shows some of the cutest parts.  colin is precious as always (can you tell he likes lion king?) and poor davis looks like he is wondering why i left him with these crazy men.  :)

embrace the camera.

so i have not been good about doing this at all. but i am going to try to be better about it.  we had some fun with the self timer on the camera this afternoon.  i look awful but let's be honest...my family sees me at my best and my worst so what does it really matter?  colin doesn't think any differently about me if my hair is a mess and i don't have on any makeup and i know davis doesn't know the difference.  :)  we had fun playing this afternoon and that is what matters.

the last couple of weeks...

davis has been very interested in his play mat.  look at those legs!

he is such a smiley, happy baby.

we've been spending some time outside....it has been such pretty spring-like weather lately.

this is what luke does outside.  :)

colin, i mean spiderman in his little house.

davis and colin took a bath together for the first time.

they had so  much fun.  my sweet boys both look so big!

love this picture.  these boys love the bathtub....

little brother and big brother.

uh oh, look at that grip davis has on the wine glass.  :)

is he a horton boy or what?

colin had an ice cream sundae at honey's house.

and we had a yummy dinner...

cousin fun.

pizza + games + cousins = super fun friday night.  :)
sweet nora with davis and luke.

they are the cutest little pair!  jillian & colin on a game.

not a good photo but if you look close you can see angie and lauren in the go-kart.  :)

colin only sings on the stage.

colin's school has an annual fundraiser called sweet serenades - there is a live auction, silent auction, sweets, and most importantly the kiddos perform on stage for all of the parents, friends, family, etc.  we have been attending this event for the last couple of years but colin was too young to perform.  now that he is in the 2 year old class, he finally got to sing on the stage!  he was perfect and precious and it was so much fun to see him up there.
be still my heart....

singing songs on stage!

he loved it!
they practiced at school all week and when i would ask him to sing something for me he kept telling me he could only sing on the stage.  a little bit dramatic or what?!?!  the next morning when he woke up he was so sad he was not going to school to sing on the stage again.  we were so proud of him and he was so surprised to see everyone that came to watch him!  i think he might have had the most people there of all the kids....can't wait until next year!
