Easter Sunday 2012

I already wrote a post about the Buckert Easter but that was on Saturday.  On Sunday we actually went to church - gasp!!!!  More than a week later and I am still proud of us for going.  Don't get me wrong - we love our church but lately it has been much easier to stay home in our little cocoon instead of venturing out on Sunday mornings.  But, we made it to church - a little early actually and our whole little family got to enjoy worship together.

Let me backtrack a little....we still laid around on Easter morning...we have been getting up pretty early around here lately so we had time to be lazy before we got ready to go.
my little boo-boo's cuddling together....love them!!!

I also attempted to make the pinterest-famous Resurrection Rolls.  I didn't really know how to explain the meaning of Easter to Colin but I figured I should at least try and these rolls were a part of my plan.  We made them and I messed up on something because the marshmallows leaked out on most of them. It was a cute idea and I will try again next year.  Mostly Colin was upset that the marshmallow disappeared and he is convinced Jesus was a girl - I think it's the long hair?  Again, I will try again next year.

Anyhow, like I said - we made it to church and managed to get a picture in front of the beautiful Easter cross.  This is one of my favorite traditions at our church on Easter.

After church we headed home to hunt Easter eggs and relax with my mom, dad, and brother.  At our house the Easter bunny came to visit after church this year and Colin was super excited.  How did the Easter bunny know he would love a super hero cape and a yo-yo?!?!

After he opened his 'happies' from the Easter bunny and hunted for eggs it was time to open up the goodies Grammie and Pappy brought over.

We played some more and Colin showed off his super hero cape -- he takes this stuff very seriously as I am sure you can tell. He also played some cards with Grammie while we were all hanging out on the deck.

Toby (Uncle Doug's dog) took over Colin's playhouse for a little bit.  Then we dressed him up like a cowboy....poor dog.  :)  Then it was Colin's turn again - a cowboy superhero - you really can't get more powerful than that combination.

And let's not forget the confetti eggs...Colin must have cracked half of them on his own head and he made sure to get everyone else too.  There are still pieces of confetti floating around outside.  :)

I feel bad there aren't more pictures of little brother in this post but he was napping for the majority of our get together....church really tired him out.  :)  Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!!!!

Buckert Easter at the Camphouse

It is a tradition in my family to go to my Grandpa's camphouse for Easter.  We have been doing this for as many years as I can remember.  It is the perfect setting for family get togethers and is right on the Guadalupe River.  It was a smaller crowd this year with half of our cousins living in another state but we still had a fantastic time.  I loved being there with my boys and sharing this family tradition with them.  I have so many memories at that camphouse and I love that they will (hopefully) remember it too...if not, that is what pictures are for!

sunny days and cool nights.

i love springtime.  it's funny how my favorite seasons used to be summer and winter (hottest and coldest) and now i love spring and the fall. the weather around here has been almost perfect the last couple of weeks and we are soaking up as much time outside as we can before the heatwave makes itself at home for the summer.  it's funny how a nice sunny day can make you feel so good...something about it makes me hopeful, as cheesey as that sounds.  it makes me want to stop time and just enjoy the day - enjoy the here and now with my little family and that is just what we have been doing.  :)
we went and watch daddy jay perform @ a cajun restaurant.
the party animal.  the loud music put him right to sleep.  :)

luke built a new gate for our backyard.

the way i like to garden - with a glass of wine.

he loves being outside more than anyone else around here (and that is a lot).

i forget if this was batman or superman.

my christmas flowers bloomed again!

my oldest love after playing with the water hose.

here's hoping our thumbs are green.

last weekend we built and planted a vegetable garden.  i have been wanting to do this for a long time and we finally made it happen this year.  we built a raised bed which literally took all of 30 minutes to do.  it took three times as long to find the wood we needed at the store.  :)  we had to have untreated lumber and according to my husband it had to be cedar.  lucky for us there is a mccoy's not too far from our house...the major home improvement stores don't carry cedar posts which are what we needed.  so after a couple hours driving from store to store and some time at the nursery picking out our plants, we are in business!

it's been just over a week since we planted everything (tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, jalapenos, cayenne pepper, belpepper, strawberries, onions and some herbs) and it looks good.  the plants are all getting taller and stronger.  we go outside to water them and look at them everyday.  we have several new tomatoes already and i can't wait until they are ready to eat!  now i just need to be patient. :)
