My Baby is One!!!

I can't believe that my itty bitty baby boy is now officially a toddler.

we started his birthday celebration with breakfast at panera.  you can tell he was really impressed, huh?  :)  he loved his egg souflee just like momma.

for dinner on his birthday we took him to chuck e. cheese.  this is an annual birthday trip in our house and colin insisted that we take davis to chuck e. cheese to celebrate.  he loved it and had a good time.  sweet brothers were playing together and having fun.  i think davis was just amazed by all of the kids running around, the noises and lights of the machines and games and of course pizza.  :)

we continued the celebration on saturday with a donut birthday party.  it was one of the best parties (and we haven't had too many) in my opinion.  i loved it first thing in the morning and the kids were so sweet and happy.  much better than the  mid-afternoon parties we usually have. :)  and just because the party was bright and early in the morning doesn't mean we skipped out on loading everyone full of sugar.  what else are you supposed to do at a party?  it was a birthday to remember and our sweet boy was surrounded with friends and family who love him dearly.

i am so grateful for davis james horton.  he has completed our family and is such a joyful baby boy.  i am grateful that he has such an amazing big brother to love on him too.  happy first birthday davis!!!

Thanksgiving 2012

We celebrated Thankgiving in Mineola this year and it was the absolute perfect setting.  It's gorgeous in the fall and the kids loved everything about it.   There was a lot of bike riding, tree climbing, fishing, running on the hay bales, and just plain playing outside.  We ate constantly, watched movies, and just spent quality time with the McKenney family.  It was even better than usual because all of the cousins were able to be there.  Luke's family lives in Texas and Georgia so it's a trek to make it to Mineola for half of the family.  We were so happy to see them and Colin (& Davis) got to meet some of their cousins for the first time.  They all had a blast together and it was so great to see them all playing and loving on eachother.  We even had a perfect rainbow on Thanksgiving Day.  :)

November 2012

The first weekend of November is the opening weekend of deer hunting season.  Since all of our husbands abandoned us for the weekend we got the chance to spend some quality time together.  The Buckert women and children spent the morning at Eli's school carnival.  It was so cute and all of the boys had so much fun.

Colin had a Thanksgiving program at school and his Daddy Jay came to see his sing and they got to make a turkey craft together.  He was so happy to see him there and he felt so special.

We got to have a much needed friend date night, ha!  We went to see Slaid Cleaves at the Mucky Duck.  Love him and that place.  Makes me feel like I am back in college.  :)

We also went on our first camping trip as a family of four in November.  Actually it was the first time we have taken Colin camping so needless to say our tent and camping stuff had to be aired  out for awhile before the trip.  How does 5-6 years go by so quickly?  It was a church camping trip so there were lots of other adults and kids including my parents and our niece Jillian. We had the best time and can't wait to go again!  The only negative was that it was freezing - literally.  It was below freezing at night/morning the entire weekend.  The baby slept in multiple layers and gloves and hats.  I also didn't take out my camera until the last day - camping with 3 kids is a lot of work and keeps you busy.  Thank goodness my parents were to help too!  :)
