I can’t believe it has already been a month since I last wrote something on here. So much has happened in a month I don’t know where to begin. I will go in date order, I guess.
For Valentine’s Day this year we celebrated with a nasty, disgusting stomach bug. What better way to spend a romantic holiday, right? I mean, we were together and we were kid-free (the rugrat went to see my parents that night so we could try to get some rest) but it was oh-so-miserable.
The next weekend my little man got another haircut. This time he went to TNT Hair Salon – the same place I go to get my hair done. Luke took him so they had a man’s morning at the salon, ha! He looked handsome afterwards, as usual and it is already time for another haircut. Why can’t my hair grow as fast as his?!?!?
We got to hang out with some friends this month and it was so nice. You don’t realize how fast time passes until you realize you haven’t seen friends in over a month! Luke’s parents are also in town right now so we have been spending some good quality time with Daddy Jay and Honey and Colin has had so much fun. He has been spending a lot of time with Aunt Leah, Uncle Brian, Lauren, Nora, and Jillian over the last few weeks too and he loves it. He is like a rock star when he goes over there with all of the girls hanging around…never too early to boost his ego, right?
Some really big news is my sister got engaged!!! She and Michael are getting married in September and I was asked to be matron of honor! I am so excited to be on the “other side” of wedding planning and am really looking forward to the upcoming months of wedding stuff. We already found her dress (so gorgeous!), a reception venue, a photographer, and the bridesmaids dress (super cute!!!). We don’t mess around – obviously.
Last but definitely not least, our friends became parents! Bailey was put on strict bed rest the Monday after Christmas when she found out she was pregnant with not one baby, but identical twin boys! Matt, her husband, is one of four boys, so for her to find out that they were going to add 2 more to the brood was so exciting! She was admitted to the hospital at 23 weeks and had an emergency c-section on February 27, 2010 (25 weeks 6 days) and gave birth to Benjamin Ray and Jack Harrison Walkup. Baby Ben, as I like to call him (he was 2 lbs 2 oz at birth) had trouble from the start and went to heaven on March 5, 2010 where he will be watching over his momma, daddy, and little Jack (he was 1 lb 12 oz at birth). Although his time here was short, those 6 days were more than enough for Matt, Bailey, and their family to fall crazy in love with him. Now he is in peace, with no pain, no tubes or needles, and no worries. Matt and Bailey both have showed such grace and strength throughout the last few months and their faith is an inspiration to everyone around them. It’s crazy to think about how much your life can change in a few short weeks, as Bailey said on her blog – they have a whole new “normal” to get used to. We are continuously praying for their family and I am continuously harassing Bailey with constant texts and emails. Their road ahead is not going to be easy, but they are going to make it to the other side. After all, they are parents now! If you don’t mind, please say a prayer for this family for healing, for strength, for peace, for time to grieve and time to enjoy Jack. I won’t wait so long to write next time – I mean, what is the point of this blog stuff if you don’t use it?
