We took a family vacation to Oregon last week for my cousin's wedding - Aubrey and Andy got married on the beach in Gearhart/Seaside/Warrenton (they all run toghether) and it was the most romantic wedding! So, here is our trip recap! We left for Portland on Thursday morning - we were doing good on time until we realized we forgot Luke's golf clubs and had to back home to pick them up. The line was crazy but we finally made it through -- only to realize the Southwest Attendant had thrown away Luke's boarding pass on accident, so back in line we went again. Here are some pictures of our journey to Oregon.
On the shuttle from airport parking toHobby Airport in Houston!
Colin loved the walkways, he kept asking to go again! This one's from thePortland airport, I think.
At baggage claim waiting on the boys to load the luggage.
On another shuttle, this time to the rental car lot in Portland.
Colin thought he was more than qualified to drive our rental car.
On our way to the coast!!!
We got to Gearhart just in time for Aubrey's bachelorette party. I didn't get any pictures at the dinner, which is a good thing because we (me, my mom, and Colin) were looking pretty rough at that point. I should mention that the travel time for us on Thursday was 12 hours...yes, that is right, 12 hours! From the time we left our house for the airport until we arrived at our vacation rental in Gearhart, it was 12 hours. I am still surprised that we all made it without any meltdowns! Anyway, after dinner we went to her in-laws beach house for desserts, drinks, and lingerie! Colin snapped a picture of Aubrey, my little photographer.
Aubrey, the Bride!
On Friday we (the Buckert women) hosted a bridal brunch for Aubrey and I didn't take any photos there either. I know, am I lame or what? The food was amazing, as usual from Aunt Lequita and the company was even better. After brunch my mom and I took Colin into Seaside to walk the boardwalk. While we were having a girls day (plus Colin) my dad and Luke were playing golf at the nearby course. I don't think the scores ended up too great but they had a good time and that's what matters, right? Friday night was the rehearsal dinner at yummy McMenamins Sand Trap restaurant on the golf course (the same course they guys had played earlier in the day).
I stole this picture from their website, isn't it pretty?
Saturday was the big wedding day!!! Since we didn't really have anything to do until the wedding that afternoon we went back down to the Seaside boardwalk and got to see and do lots of new things.
Colin looking at the ocean.
From the other side. How cute is that?
We got to feed the seals at the aquarium.
A close up of one of the fish eating maniacs. Luke was also taking pictures and we took video of Colin throwing fish heads over the gate to the seals delight. It was gross and really fun at the same time. We got really close and we got wet a couple of times from those crazy animals.
Inside the aquarium we got to color pictures - that was a hit with everyone.
The aquarium gang walking down the boardwalk . From left to right: Luke, Sam, Katie, Ben, Emily, Ally, Aunt Ann, Colin, my mom, and sweet Anna is behind my mom.
They have flowers everywhere in Oregon!!! Gorgeous, beautiful flowers like these hydrangeas. The flowers alone made me want to pick and move - they were all so vibrant and so darn pretty, everywhere.
I think I will take a break here and pick up next time with the wedding and the day after and our trip back home. Whew, I am tired just typing that!
