beach time.

we went to the beach last weekend - friday night luke and i went down and spent the night by ourselves (happy anniversary!).  on saturday my parents brought colin down and the valdez family got to come too.  it was a quick trip and luke ended up being sick and in bed all day saturday but we (me and colin) sill thought it was super fun and much needed.  i love that the beach (yes, even if it's galveston) is only 30 minutes away.  it might only be 30 minutes but it feels like another world down there - relaxed, easy going beach time is the best.
my breakfast on saturday.  next time you're in galveston, go to sunflower bakery.

mmm, my favorite.

a coke and a smile (and a sick hubby).

colin & pappy on the beach.

eli loved the beach so much he slept the entire time!

blurry but colin wanted to hold eli.  so sweet.

get your guns up!

our house is a red raider household.  to be honest, it's not as though colin or i have a choice.  luke is obsessed with texas tech football so it has become a family hobby.  it is actually really fun and i actually look forward to football season (also cooler weather, laying on the couch with my boys, chili, a cold beer  soda?, football snacks, etc).  the first game of the season is on saturday and wouldn't  you know, texas tech is playing my school - texas state!!!  as much as i would love texas state to win (it's kind of a rule since i actually graduated from there), i don't want tech to lose and let's be honest -- texas state really does not have a chance.   i am hoping for a great season for the red raiders - makes the games a lot more fun to watch and keeps the man of the house in a much better mood!

we are fully prepared around here...i finally broke down and ordered a garden flag so we can show everyone on our street where our allegiance lies.  ha, like they didn't already know with the address sign by the mailbox.  :)

luke has his tech coffee cup ready to go -- he is a weirdo and has to use this coffee cup on game day.

and as a surprise i ordered my guys some new ttu shirts - they should be here just in time for the game on saturday.  no new shirt for me this year -- hint, hint: someone at tech should be making/selling maternity t-shirts.  i mean, come on!

get your guns up!  go tech!

where has the time gone - celebrating 5 years today.

holy cow, i have been married for 5 years today!  i cannot believe that time has passed so quickly.  on our second anniversary luke and i talked about taking a big vacation for our 5 year anniversary - to hawaii or somewhere tropical.  instead of a vacation we are getting another precious little boy so i'd say we still came out on top.  :)

thinking back on our wedding i have only happy, mushy, gushy thoughts.  yes, i was sick and throwing up the day/night before the wedding and all day on my wedding day.  i have almost forgotten my lovely bridesmaids literally cutting me out of my wedding gown because i was sick/couldn't breathe/gross.  mostly i remember all of the people that mean the most to us celebrating our wedding with us.  i remember walking down the aisle and crying like a big baby.  i remember that from the first step into the sanctuary i did not feel sick.  i was completely at peace and so excited to be marrying my best friend.  we had a beautiful ceremony (i am not biased at all right?) and a quick, fun reception at the church afterwards.  let's take a little trip down memory lane....

then the party really started - well for my new husband and the guests that is.  by this time i was back to puking and sickliness.  even through the grossness of being sick i will forever cherish the toasts our friends and family made, our first dance as husband and wife, hugging and kissing on our family and friends and the magic of the night.  that was the beginning of wonderful life and it has only gotten better over the last few years.

our first dance as husband and wife was to the song 'better together' by jack johnson.  it could not be more perfect for the way i feel about my lovely husband.

There is no combination of words I could put on the back of a postcard
No song that I could sing, but I can try for your heart
Our dreams, and they are made out of real things
Like a, shoebox of photographs
With sepiatone loving

Love is the answer,
At least for most of the questions in my heart
Like why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy and
Sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing, it's always better when we're together

Mmm, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, we'll look at the stars when we're together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together

And all of these moments
Just might find their way into my dreams tonight
But I know that they'll be gone
When the morning light sings
And brings new things
For tomorrow night you see
That they'll be gone too
Too many things I have to do

But if all of these dreams might find their way
Into my day to day scene
I'd be under the impression
I was somewhere in between
With only two
Just me and you
Not so many things we got to do
Or places we got to be
We'll sit beneath the mango tree now

It's always better when we're together
Mmm, we're somewhere in between together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together

I believe in memories
They look so, so pretty when I sleep
Hey now, and when I wake up,
You look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time,

And there is no, no song I could sing
And there is no, combination of words I could say
But I will still tell you one thing
We're better together.

oh baby!

well, hello there.  i snapped this picture at workyesterday - i was 24 weeks, 4 days pregnant with this little bambino.  i also think we might have decided on a name, but who knows, i could change my mind again!  i still need to do a post about the last 6 months of pregnancy (oh my gosh, how did that happen?!?!) but that will have to be another day.

oy, i swear i am bigger this time than with colin but my handsome hubby keeps assuring me it is the same.  i laugh when people at work make comments like "oh wow, you are really growing aren't you?".  one, like i don't notice it or something?  and two, because if they think this is big already...watch out!  i still have 16 weeks for this belly to grow.  that's another thing - i don't know why they say pregnancy only lasts 9 months -- it is a lie, a big fat lie.  literally.  :)

i wanna go to the lakeside...

so that is not really how the song goes but luke was singing it that way this morning and it stuck in my head.  thanks to my sister in law and her hubby we spent the weekend at lake travis with the horton family (minus scot - stinking grad school!).  we had a blast swimming, riding jet skis (first time for all the kiddos), taking a ride on a pontoon boat around the lake and just playing together.  the weekend went by entirely too fast - can't wait to do it again!
cheese-ing for the camera.

pool time (ignore the trash in the background)

silly boy - always wanting to be naked.
