Today is the first official day of fall – can I get an amen? Supposedly there is a cool front coming in tonight and I can’t wait. Of course I think this means it will be high 80’s instead of 90’s/100’s but I will take what I can get. I have big plans for this weekend – hopefully by writing them down it will help me to get them accomplished.
• Put up a new mailbox. One of the girls across the street from our house backed into our mailbox almost 2 weeks ago. Yep – we haven’t had a mailbox for 2 weeks and I haven’t missed any of the junk mail! Luke actually went out and bought all of the materials a couple days after the accident but we (he) just hasn’t had the time to do this yet.
• Get Colin’s room finished. Thankfully my mother in law has offered to come over and help us with this so I am certain it will get done. It won’t be 100% (still have stuff I want to find to hang up on the walls, etc) but it will be done enough that he can start sleeping in there (and we can start working on the nursery).
• Clean the house & catch up on laundry – no further explanation other than yuck. Two of my least favorite things to do.
• We are going to dinner with my in-loves to celebrate luke’s birthday this weekend. We are going out for a kid-free dinner (thanks grammie & pappy for watching him!) so we are pretty excited and looking forward to a fun time.
• I am baby sitting my nephew while my sister and her hubby celebrate their first wedding anniversary. I cannot wait – a whole evening of snuggles and kisses!
• Spend some quality family time with my boys. Luke is travelling for work next week and I think me and colin are both going to have a hard time with him gone.
I guess that is really all for this weekend. Now let’s see how much of that actually gets done!
our weekend.
as usual the weekend flew by way too fast. i can now check off some of the items from our fall bucket list, though i still have yet to actually print the list off. we went to the rodeo parade with my parents on saturday (luke was bird hunting) and had a good time.
eating a kolache waiting for the parade to start.
it's never too early for candy, right?
he was really studying the hummer limo postcard, ha!
we also watched a lot of football (go tech! we won!) including the texans game this afternoon (won that one too!). a couple weeks ago luke took colin to academy and bought him a jersey and he actually wore it for more than 2 minutes today! he is such a big boy.
he yelled "football" and gave a fist pump right when i took the picture, ha!
we did get the house decorated this morning with my fall decor...so exciting! it feels very festive around here - hopefully the weather will cooperate now too. another big event for us was that it actually RAINED this weekend! it has rained several times today so of course we had to break out colin's special umbrella. fingers crossed we get more rain this week!
hello 3rd trimester!
I am 28 weeks pregnant with little brother today. Only 84 days until we get to meet him. We still don’t have a name, or rather I haven’t fully committed to a name yet. Luke and Colin have decided and Colin’s teachers told me goes around talking about “baby brother ---“ at school every day. Ha!
We went to the doctor a couple weeks ago (26 week visit) and will go again in 2 more weeks (30 week visit). At the 30 week visit we are also getting another growth scan – I can’t wait to see this little boy again! This will be our 3rd growth scan because he was measuring a little small way back at the beginning of the 2nd trimester. I am pretty sure he has caught up now and I love the excuse to go back and look at him again. It will most likely be our last chance to get a sneak peek before he is born, yikes.
I feel like I am huge with this little bambino. I have gained 15 lbs so far which is normal, but I feel like I am 10 times bigger than I was with Colin.
I actually had my camera in my purse today so here are my belly shots in a work bathroom...lovely.
I can’t believe today is the beginning of the 3rd trimester – this pregnancy has flown by. Part of me is beyond excited that there are only 10 – 12 weeks left because I cannot wait to meet this little miracle that has been growing in my belly. I can’t wait for him to be here and to be a part of our family. I am so looking forward to snuggling on the couch with my two boys and my hubby. The other part of me is freaking out – I still don’t think it has 100% sunk in yet that we will have two little boys in the family. We haven’t picked a name, haven’t started on the nursery, or bought anything yet (not that we really need much). I am really hoping the nesting mode kicks in soon!

fall bucket list.
i have seen these popping up on blogs/pinterest like crazy lately. i think it's such a fun idea! i have a big list of fun stuff i want to do and below is my lame attempt to make a cute little check list. i am not photoshop savy and i will probably not fram this all cutesy-do. i will print it out in color (watch out world!) and put it on my fridge. then when i am trying to think of something fun to do on the weekends, i can look at this old thing!
i am sure i will think of many more things to add to this list, but it's a good start. my goal is to check off everything on this list (don't think that will be difficult) and to blog about it (must remember to carry my camera at all times). i am willing fall to come to houston (specifically pasadena) on saturday. there is no choice in the matter - even if it's still 100 degrees we will be decorating and celebrating the fall season anyway. hard to believe this is the last fall season as a family of 3 - wonder what my list will look like next year?!?! happy fall ya'll!

boots for my boy.
colin came home to a very special surprise today. his honey bought him his first pair of cowboy boots. for those that don't know my boy is obsessed with woody. he walked in and saw the boots sitting on the kitchen table and he was just plain giddy. they are a little big but they are perfect. he hasn't taken them off since he got home and has already been running around outside in them. i have a feeling we are going to be wearing these A LOT. thanks honey for the cowboy boots!!!
he wanted to make sure his animal cracker snacks made it into the picture too. aren't those boots soadorable manly? :) i love them and can't wait for him to wear them with pants, ha!

yesterday was colin's first day of school. technically he goes to "school" all year/summer long but today was the official beginning of the school year for his class. he is in the 2-year-old class this year (what, no infant, no toddler?!?!?). we went to the store on monday to pick out a special lunch kit for school and he was so proud of it. i snapped the obligatory first day of school pictures. first, let's take a look at my baby on his first day of school 2010. my oh my, how he has grown!

labor day 2011.
our only plans for the labor day weekend were to have no plans. it was amazing.
we started off the weekend with a grumpy 2 year old who did not want to go to school. this is rare - he is usually ready to go to school as soon as he opens his little eyes in the morning. i even let him wear his frog boots (who am i to judge, right?). i snapped the photo below at a stop light and he freaked out. he was really mad at me. normally he loves having his picture taken. i think he turned into a grumpy tween overnight. oy. luckily when he came home friday afternoon he was back to his normal, happy, momma-loving self.
colin's teacher at school has started a habit of giving the kids a happy face on their hand when they behave. i am all for rewarding good behavior but i am not sure drawing on colin's hand with a washable marker is the way to do it. every day when he gets home he runs to the playroom, grabs a couple of markers and walks around telling us (me, luke, and henry the dog) that he has his special markers so we better be good and listen. then he offers (bugs us to death) to give us a happy face on our hand so we can be like him. sweet boy. he is actually not too bad at it. i should have taken a picture of him chasing henry around the yard trying to give him a happy face.
saturday was the long-awaited, much anticipated texas tech game. they were playing texas state (my school) so i figured it was a win-win situation for me. i could be happy no matter which team was winning! we ended up being able to watch the game on tv (via hooked up laptop) so everyone was happy. look at my two studs in their tech gear, ready to go. colin thought it was cool to carry his cowboy gun around too. good thing we live in texas, right? no one even looked at him strange when he walked into lowe's with it. ha!
on sunday we started the morning with some coffee and cartoons. colin loves him some charlie brown. this lasted for about 30 seconds before he was done w/it but how cute is he?
we spent time with family, slept late, ate yummy food, and lounged around. we also worked on colin's room a lot this weekend. by "we" i mean my husband and his mom. i helped a little. we are so close to being done and i cannot wait to be finished! hopefully it will be done this week and i can finally post pictures! happy short week everyone!
hello september!
OMG (I really need to stop saying that, started as a joke and now I can’t stop) – I am so happy that it is finally september. I feel like it has taken forever to get here. Don’t get me wrong, we had an amazing summer full of fun but I am ready to move on.
I am looking forward (read: can’t wait, this week has felt forever long) to the holiday weekend. Our only plans (besides the TTU game tomorrow night) are to work on colin’s new room (read: big boy room). It is going to be amazing. He is one lucky little boy – he loves to go in there with us and work which usually involves him hammering the carpet or playing with the tape measure. He takes his work very seriously. I really want to get most of his room finished this weekend and as soon as we do I will post some pictures. When we finally get him moved over we can actually start on the still nameless little brother’s room (colin’s current room – nursery).
Next week is colin’s "first" day of school – how cute is that. Even if he goes to “school” year round, I am still so excited. He will be in the 2-year old class this year – no more infant class, toddler 1, toddler 2, etc. I will of course be taking cheesey pictures of him on his way to school on Tuesday. I started last year and what is the point of a tradition if you don’t keep up with it? Plus I like to see how much he has grown from the beginning of one year to the next.
I also have an OB visit coming up – the dreaded gestational diabetes/glucose test, which is not really dreaded anymore. Been there, done that – it’s not super gross like everyone says. It is a small drink that kind of tastes like melted popsicle. Have to remind myself not to eat powdered donuts before my appointment, ha!
Bunco starts back for me next week too (we take a break for the summer months). Before we know it October will be here and that is one of my most favorite months of the year. Until then I will enjoy (hopefully) less 100+ degree days and will be looking forward to our first cool front of the year – whenever that will happen. Happy September!!!

oh my.
i just wrote the beach post and it got me thinking about colin's first trip to the beach in august 2009. here are a couple of quick comparison photos - just reminds me how FAST time has flown by. my little boy is definitely not a baby anymore - he is a big boy and he reminds me of that on a daily basis. love him.

on one hand i am so happy that he is not in diapers anymore, that he can get himself a snack (most of the time) and that he is happy to play outside by himself with henry and all kinds of other big boy stuff. but on the other hand i wouldn't mind him being just a little less independent sometimes. the other day he kept calling me ''mom'' and i quickly informed him that is not my name. we are now back to ''momma'' or ''mommy''. for pete's sake, he is only 2 1/2 years old! :) i tell him all the time that he will be my baby forever and he agrees with me, but i know it's only a matter of time. better enjoy all of these extra snuggles and kisses and singing songs goodnight while i can.
