Davis James Horton

 I went to the doctor on Monday, 12/5 for my 39 week appointment....I was miserable and sick and was hoping the doc would send me over to L&D.  I was dilated 4 cm and scheduled for an induction on Wed, 12/7 at 5:00am. We left the appointment happy and excited and still in disbelief that we would be meeting our sweet boy in a couple of days!

On Tuesday, 12/6 we went out for our 'last dinner' at Outback - I knew it'd be awhile before I was able to eat again so I wanted something good!  We all stuffed ourselves silly and headed home to get everything ready to get to the hospital on Wednesday morning.  All day Tuesday and during dinner I had been having contractions but they were irregular and I figured they would just go away.  Starting at 8pm they started coming every 5 minutes and they were getting painful.  Luckily Luke was really paying attention and after an hour I called L&D and we were on our way to the hospital.   Thank goodness Luke insisted I call when I did....as soon as we got in the car the contractions started coming harder and faster and did not stop.  At this point they were coming every 3 minutes and it was like a scene from a movie - I was in pain and Luke couldn't drive fast enough, ha!

When we got to the hospital at 10:00pm they immediately put us in a room and I was 5 cm, 90% effaced.  They started some IV fluids so I could get the epidural.  When the doctor checked me again at 11:00pm I was 7 cm so we called our families and told them to get to the hospital!

At this point I was still in shock that I had gone into labor on my own and that we were going to be meeting Davis so soon. After only about 40 minutes of pushing and lots of encouragement from everyone in the room, he was here! Davis James Horton was born on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 2:21am. He weighed 6 lbs 10 oz and measured 20 inches long -- absolutely perfect!  Get ready for picture overload....

our sweet nurse offered to take a picture of everyone that was still there...this was almost 3am.  he is a lucky boy to have so many that love him so much already.

Needless to say we are all in love around here.  Little brother has definitely completed our family and I feel like my heart has more than doubled in size over the last few days.  Davis has kept it interesting - more to blog coming soon, especially so I don't forget all that has happened, ha!  Welcome to the world sweet boy, we are so happy you are here!
