At the end of May we took Davis back to TCH for a follow up ultrasound. For those that don't remember, a quick(ish) version: when I was pregnant they noticed some fluid on one of Davis' kidneys. The Ob/Gyn told us it was probably nothing but to make sure to get an ultrasound after he was born to check it out. When he was 2 weeks old the ultrasound showed the fluid was still there. The pediatrician sent us to back to TCH to have a VCUG done. The test was negative and showed he did not have any reflux issues with his kidney. So they said to just wait and repeat the ultrasound at 6 months and that more than likely it would be all cleared up on it's own. So back to TCH we went for another ultrasound. We waited forever in the waiting room but our happy little patient did not seem to mind at all. He was content hanging out in his stroller and people-watching, ha. :)
Unfortunately this ultrasound showed that the fluid on his kidney (hydronephrosis) had doubled. So we were sent back to our pediatrician, who then sent us to a pediatric urologist, and now he is scheduled for another test (nuclear renogram with lasix) next week. The purpose of this test is to measure his kidney function. We are really nervous about this test but we are also looking forward to getting some more answers as to why the fluid is not going away and is increasing. This sweet boy is still just the absolute happiest baby and we are ready to put all of these doctor appointments/tests behind us! Say a prayer that all goes well with the text next week if you have a spare minute. :)
